Walking Through the Hills With a Local Goat Herder and Their Goats

We will be taking a walk with a goat herder in the Algarve mountains who's family has lived in this mountainous area for over 150 years. We will be accompanying him as he takes his goats to graze in the Serra do Caldeirão hills and have a unique look at the life of a self subsistance farmer in the Algarve.

After this, we will have local goat cheese, honey, fresh baked bread, homemade jams and wine waiting for us.

Go Mushroom Foraging

Taking place in the months of December and January, we take a nature walk through our land to discover mushrooms like the coveted Saffron Milk Cap, Oyster Mushroom, Reishi Mushroom and more!

Learn How to Make Fresh Goat Cheese

Join us for a fresh goat cheese making demonstration. We will learn traditional methods as well as the history of the Serra do Caldeirão and it’s residents .

Afterwards, we will taste local goats cheese, olives, olive oil and fresh bread accompanied by wine.

Attend a Bread Making Workshop

Take part in a bread making demonstration as we share the rich breadmaking heritage of the Serra do Caldeirão where is was common to bake bread in large communal bread ovens.

Harvest Olives and Learn How to Brine Them

Experience the joy of an ancient tradition. Pick olives from our olive trees and learn all about the history of olives, olive oil and olive brining while also learning about our local farming community in the Serra do Caldeirão.

Afterwards we have an olive and olive oil tasting with fresh baked bread and of course, wine!

Harvest Pine Nuts and Make Homemade Pesto

As we are surrounded by stone pine trees, we go on a nature walk to harvest pine combs and extract the coveted pine nuts. Afterwards we make homemade pesto and enjoy it with freshly baked bread and wine.
